About

The title of this blog may seem oxymoronic to some. The fact is, being gay and Catholic is our daily reality. What we believe in, what we strive for, how we grow depends on two things: God and ourselves. In today’s world the terrain is confusing. There are voices and forces not just pulling us in different directions but at times ripping us apart. God always wants us to be true to ourselves, because where there is Truth in the heart, there is virtue. But Truth and Virtue do not always come naturally. They must be learned and practiced over the span of a lifetime by balancing patience, determination and the effort to give ourselves to God.

What do we make of the changes happening in our society, such as gay marriage rights and adoption policies? What do we make of our Church’s tradition and our longing to be faithful? How do we reconcile our inner experience with Church teaching, the convictions of our families, the attitudes of our friends, and the longings of our beloved?

The reality is that we are navigating a space where the signposts are coded, the paths appear seldom traveled-upon, and all the while it is quite dark outside. The people we meet point us in different directions and fellow travelers are hard to find. We need someone to walk with us but so often we have no voice to call out.

The creators of this blog believe there is a place in this world for the good gay Catholic. We can find our way and we can find each other. In fact, you don’t have to be Catholic to find a place here – just the will to follow your heart and God’s call. Our daily reality is sometimes confusion, pain, longing, and frustration. But our destiny is heaven. We believe the tools for safe passage on this journey are to be informed both of current events and the wisdom of the Saints, to constantly nourish ourselves spiritually and intellectually, to find those who understand what its like, and to build a network of supportive resources in all the various forms they take. Our purpose at this website is to become one of those resources for anyone who wants to join us as we work on finding our way together. We believe in the Catholic Faith and we believe in our own heart’s desire to love and be good people. Let’s blaze the trail that needs blazing and make whatever is God’s will a reality.
